On June 25th, President
Robert Mugabe of the Nation of Zimbabwe, stood before
thousands of people in the national stadium and prayed the
following prayer dedicating the nation to Jesus Christ.
Apostle Alexander Chisango, who chaired this event,
delivered the prayer to us last weekend, and I am now
sharing it with you. I trust that you will all recognize
the tremendous significance and historic impact of what this
hallmark event means to the nation and to the world. Before
the President prayed he confessed his sins and the sins of
the nation, and then he made this declaration:
"Lord God Almighty, We
acknowledge You as the Creator, Original Visionary, and Sole
Proprietor of the nation of Zimbabwe, and all the nations of
the earth. We realize that we are only trustees of what is
Yours. We also acknowledge that our very lives came from
You and thus we belong to You.
Forgive us for any
misappropriation or abuse of that which You have entrusted
to us; namely our very lives and the nation of Zimbabwe.
Pardon us and grant us the power to repent from every wrong
doing. We acknowledge our failures before You and our need
of You. Forgive us for not depending on You as we should.
We invite You, Almighty
God, to take Your rightful place in our land. Jesus, be the
Lord of our land. Jesus, we declare You the Lord of
Zimbabwe
now and
forever.
May you make Zimbabwe a lighthouse of righteousness. May
you restore all its fortunes. May Zimbabwe, once again,
become the breadbasket of Africa. May it, once again, shine
like a jewel among the nations.
We pray all this in Jesus'
name. Amen."
